To the Editor:

Less than a week after a terrorist gunned down 50 Muslim worshippers at their mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, the New Zealand government has passed a ban on military-style semi-automatic weapons, assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, parts that can convert a firearm into a semi-automatic weapon, and parts that cause a firearm to generate semi-automatic, automatic or close to automatic gunfire. The ban is expected to go into effect within the next few weeks.

I don’t think it’s going to work. Nowhere in the ban does it mention thoughts and prayers.
