Congress needs to do its job

Dear Editor:

I have written a number of letters concerning the Washington Establishment. President Trump calls it the Swamp; to be more accurate it should be called “government bureaucracy.”

We all know that we have corruption in the Senate, the House, IRS, CIA, FBI, DOJ, as well as other government agencies.

Liberal, biased judges have changed laws by rulings in some cases.

We are a very divided country after eight years of the Obama administration. The country was divided in the 1960s and 1970s, so let us go back to that point of time when the bureaucracy was formed.

The Ethics in Government Act passed by Congress in 1978 established the Independent Counsel. The bureaucracy created by Congress relegated Congress to serving as a executive oversight body rather than a legislative body. Government no longer operates on behalf of the people, nor the common good of the country.

The centralized bureaucracy has become the central feature of government. Administration rule-making has replaced general lawmaking, and rules by bureaucracy has replaced rule by elected officials — Information from IMPRIMIS, a publication of Hillsdale College.

We have witnessed the past two years of the Mueller investigation of President Trump as an attempt to destroy him using a legal rather than political process of adjudication.

The Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee love scandals so they can destroy their target. Example: Supreme Court justice nomination of Justice Kavanaugh, with the unproven scandal they presented. Now they are after DOJ Attorney General William Barr.

I am happy we now have Barr as head of the Department of Justice in place of Jeff Sessions. He spoke with forked tongue. He was part of the Washington Establishment.

The DOJ has many resources including the FBI and the federal courts. Even though they have procedural requirements to ensure impartiality, if they are part of the bureaucracy they can and will manipulate, maneuver the federal laws, rules and procedures, witness testimony for negative information on their target, and Sessions let it happen.

Senators, representatives, do your damn job. You took an oath to protect our country. Fix the immigration problem and the crisis on our southern border.
