Lasher tosses one-hitter as Renegades split DH

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Caleb Lasher lost his no-hit bid, then he lost the shutout. He wasn't going to lose the game, too.

Nate Dechaine smacked a leadoff single in the seventh for the Ozark Generals' first hit in the first game of Friday night's doubleheader at Meador Park. No-hit bid gone.

Dechaine ended up scoring when Devin Holmes walked with the bases loaded to make it 2-1. Shutout gone.

Lasher then fell behind 2-0 but got a grounder to first base to strand the bases loaded. Win secured. It's the third time this season Jefferson City has only allowed one run.

Lasher finished with two strikeouts, five walks with just one hit and an unearned run allowed.

The first two innings went quick for Lasher, recording three flyouts, two strikeouts and a groundout. He walked two in the third before a pair of groundouts left two runners in scoring position.

Ozark also stranded a runner at second in the second inning after a one-out hit by pitch.

Cole Evans got the Renegades on the board with an RBI single in the third, scoring Avery Jennings.

Hunter Swift is now tied for the team lead in triples after smacking his third of the season with two outs in the fifth. Jennings followed with a single to make it 2-0.

Jennings, Evans and Anthony Green each had two hits to lead a nine-hit attack.

The second game went the other way for the Renegades as Ozark shut out Jefferson City in the first five innings and held off a rally to win 5-3.

Ty Roseberry led off the seventh with a single but was later thrown out trying to advance to third on Mike Million's single, ending the game.

Roseberry had three of Jefferson City's 11 hits. Evans, Million and Mason Price each had two.

The Renegades fell behind 5-0 as Ozark scored two in the first, one in the second and two more in the fifth.

An Evans leadoff solo shot in the sixth got Jefferson City on the scoreboard.

Million and Jennings followed with a double and single, respectively. Million would score on Tyler Cunningham's groundout and Price drove in Jennings with a single. The rally ended as Ozark starter Steven Kemp got his sixth strikeout of the game. Kemp got the win as he allowed three runs on nine hits in six innings.

Cragin Missak closed out the game for the save.

Christian Stelling and Kolton Clark split the game in half, each going three innings.

Jefferson City is 16-23 in the MINK Leage, 6 games behind Ozark (22-16), which leads Nevada (20-20) by three games in the South Division.

The Renegades will play their final regular season road game at 7 p.m. today at Nevada.
