The Jefferson City Renegades will have seven players participating in today's MINK League All-Star festivities at Phil Welch Stadium in St. Joseph.

The fifth annual All-Star Game between the North Division and the South Division is scheduled for 7 p.m.

"The All-Star Game is a great time to get our league together to showcase the talent across the league," MINK League commissioner Ron Rodriguez said in a press release. "I find it important that players get together and learn more about each other from across the two divisions."

Representing the Renegades on the South All-Stars will be pitchers Lane Threlkeld and Connor McKenna, infielders Paul Haupt, Peyton Leeper and Dede Cole and outfielder Tommy Ruether.

"The guys that are going are all deserving," Renegades manager Mike DeMilia said. " Once the season got rolling, those guys have been our best guys."

McKenna, a Helias graduate, will be making his first appearance at the All-Star Game.

"It's an honor," he said. "The thing is, I feel like I haven't really pitched as well as I can so far, so to be able to be recognized like that and know I can do that much better in the second half of the season is really exciting."

Haupt has plenty of momentum heading into the All-Star Break. He is the reigning MINK League player of the week and is among the league leaders in RBI, home runs, hits and batting average.

"It's always an honor, and it's going to be a good time," Haupt said. "I'm looking forward to it."

The All-Stars will begin taking batting practice at 3 p.m. The home run derby is scheduled to take place at 5:30 p.m.

The derby consists of eight players, one from each team. Logan Haring will be the Renegades' representative in the derby.

"It's a good honor for them," DeMilia said. "It's a lot of fun. I've been there for the last two years, and it'll be a fun day for them and a good experience."

The North All-Stars defeated the South All-Stars 12-3 in last year's All-Star Game at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin.
