Lincoln set to host Missouri Southern

The Lincoln men's and women's basketball teams continue their homestand tonight with an MIAA doubleheader against the Missouri Southern Lions.

The women's game starts at 5:30 p.m. in Jason Gym, with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m.

The Missouri Southern men are ranked No. 10 in this week's NABC Division II Top 25 poll. The Lions are in first place alone in the MIAA with a 6-0 record and are 13-2 overall, suffering a three-point loss to Truman State and a two-point loss to Texas A&M-Commerce during non-conference play.

Missouri Southern is led by Cam Martin, a 6-foot-9 junior forward/center who is averaging 21.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Martin has been named the MIAA player of the week three times this season.

Kinzer Lambert, a 6-4 senior guard, is averaging 12.6 points per game, while Elyjah Clark, a 6-3 senior guard, is at 12.2 points per game for the Lions.

Dexter Frisbie, a 6-11 redshirt junior center and 2016 Iberia High School graduate, has played in four games this season for Missouri Southern. He has not played since Dec. 3, but he began the season with 10 points and five rebounds in a win against Saint Mary.

The Lions are averaging 88.8 points per game - 19th best in NCAA Division II - and are holding opponents to 67.2 points per game. Missouri Southern defeated Newman 79-49 on Saturday.

Lincoln (6-8, 3-2 MIAA) is scoring 70.4 points and allowing 72.4 points per game. The Blue Tigers are coming off an 88-84 overtime win Saturday against Central Missouri.

Jonell Burton leads Lincoln with 15.8 points per game, while Cameron Potts and Marcel Burton are adding 12.6 and 10.7 points per game, respectively.

The Missouri Southern women snapped a three-game losing skid Saturday with a 72-68 victory against Newman. The Lions improved to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in the MIAA.

Chasidee Owens, a 5-10 senior guard/forward, leads Missouri Southern with 15.3 points per game. Destiny Cozart, a 5-8 senior guard, is right behind her with 14.9 points per game.

Zoe Campbell, a 6-3 junior center, is also averaging double figures with 11.3 points per game and leads the Lions with 7.6 rebounds per contest.

Missouri Southern is scoring 69.0 points per game and allowing an average of 69.8. The Lions have lost by single digits in eight of their 10 defeats.

The Lincoln women suffered their third straight loss Saturday with an 82-60 defeat against Central Missouri. The Blue Tigers are 3-11 overall and 0-5 in the MIAA.

Lincoln is averaging 61.8 points per game and giving up 70.6.

Kaloni Pryear leads the Blue Tigers with 16.3 points per game and has scored in double figures in all 13 games she has appeared in this season.

Vivian Chigbu is also in double figures with 12.1 points per game and leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per contest.

Lincoln will wrap up its homestand Saturday with a doubleheader against Pittsburg State.
