14 Blue Tigers earn All-American track recognition

The Lincoln track and field athletes who qualified for the NCAA Division II indoor track and field national championships were awarded All-American honors.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday that 14 Blue Tigers were named All-Americans, including eight from the women's team and six from the men's team.

The championships were scheduled to take place March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala., but were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

An athlete typically must score at least one point at the national championship meet to achieve All-American status, but the USTFCCCA voted to include all athletes who were invited to compete at the event on the All-American list.

The Lincoln men's team ended the season ranked No. 1 by the USTFCCCA, and had 11 total All-American performances, fifth-most in the nation.

Ryan Brown and Kizan David each earned All-American nods in the long jump and triple jump, while Salif Mane received the honor in the triple jump.

Javan Gray and Carlon Hosten were named All-Americans in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Colby Jennings, Jr. also earned multiple All-American honors, qualifying for the national championships in the 200 and 400.

The Lincoln women's team finished ranked No. 2, and turned in the second-most All-American performances of any program in the country.

The Blue Tigers combined for 17 selections, with six athletes each receiving multiple All-American awards.

Rene Medley garnered All-American awards in the 60 and the 200 after finishing the year with Division II's fastest times in both events.

Kelly-Ann Beckford earned All-American nods in the 800-meter run, the mile run and the distance medley relay. Kissi-Ann Brown was also recognized in the distance medley relay as well as in the 400 and the 4x400-meter relay.
