COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays lost 8-1 on Wednesday to the Rock Bridge Bruins, the defending Class 2 state champions.
Quintera Lewis had the Lady Jays' only win, taking her singles match 6-3, 6-7 (2-7) and winning the tiebreaker 13-11.
Falling in singles for Jefferson City were Erica Dunn (3-6, 0-6), Bailey Patrick (2-6, 0-6), Akhi Donthireddy (2-6, 0-6), Bailey Higgins (0-6, 0-6) and Sudhi Kumar (0-6, 0-6).
Taking losses in doubles were Dunn and Higgins (4-8), Patrick and Lewis (4-8) and Donthireddy and Kumar (1-8).
Jefferson City (11-9) will be the No. 1 seed in next week's Class 2 District 9 Tournament. The Lady Jays face the winner of Camdenton and Sedalia Smith-Cotton on Tuesday.
