Nine area golfers advance to girls state tournaments

Helias, Jefferson City, Blair Oaks, Eldon, Eugene and School of the Osage all had individuals qualify for their respective state golf tournaments out of sectional action Monday.

In the Class 2 sectional at Tanglewood Golf Club in Fulton, Helias finished third as a team with a 362.

Helias had three individuals advance to state. Skylar Nelson finished 12th with a 90, while Natalie Beck tied for 14th with a 92 and Greta Hinds tied for 16th with a 93.

Reese Hamilton added a 99 to finish 23rd, while Jayden Ralston shot a 105 to tie for 33rd.

Jefferson City was fourth as a team with a 385.

Sami Swinfard and Grafton Craighead both advanced to state for the Lady Jays. Swinfard was second overall in the individual standings with a 77, two shots behind medalist Brooke Biermann of Lafayette: Wildwood. Craighead finished 20th with a 94.

Camryn Swinfard of Jefferson City was 31st with a 103, while Valerie Hurt tied for 44th with a 111.

The top two teams at sectionals advance to state. Rock Bridge took team honors Monday with a 333, while Francis Howell was second with a 362.

The Class 2 state tournament will be held next Monday and Tuesday at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City.

In the Class 1 sectional at Ste. Genevieve, Halie Rackers of the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons advanced to state.

Rackers was one of four individuals that tied for ninth with an 86.

Elliott Hull of the Lady Falcons finished 30th with a 99 on Monday, while teammate Samantha Backes tied for 32nd with a 101.

Kathryn Kelley of New Bloomfield tied for 35th with a 102.

In the Class 1 sectional in Nixa, School of the Osage finished third while Eldon was fourth.

Kassidy Hull of Eldon advanced to state, finishing second with a 77 Reagan Zibilski of Springfield Catholic was the medalist with a 73.

Logan Belt of Eugene advanced to state by finishing 10th with a 96, while Sydney Riley of School of the Osage moved on by taking 15th with a 103.

Springfield Catholic took team honors with a 343, while Logan-Rogersville finished second with a 398 to advance to state. Osage was third with a 450, six shots better than Eldon.

The Class 1 state tournament will be played next Monday and Tuesday at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville.
