It was a decent start to the Lady Jays Classic championship game for Jefferson City.

"Back-to-back home runs to start the dang game," Lady Jays coach Zac Miller said. "That's just special in itself."

Jefferson City wasn't close to being done.

The Lady Jays added two more homers and a five-run fifth inning ended it early as they won 16-6 against the Lee's Summit North Broncos on Saturday at Binder Park.

Addison Morgan sent the fourth pitch she saw over the fence in left-center field to lead off the bottom of the first.

Kara Daly connected on a 3-0 pitch for a home run to center field. It was 2-0 after eight pitches.

"But we knew Lee's Summit North's got some sticks, so we knew we were going to have to score a lot more just to keep them at bay."

Three singles, a double and an error led to four runs for the Broncos in the second.

"It was a hit fest, both sides, back and forth, back and forth," Miller said.

Daly homered again in the second, this time a two-run no-doubter to left field for a 5-4 lead.

Daly had three of Jefferson City's 18 hits and three RBI.

"Any time that girl gets going, it seems like the rest of us get going," Miller said. "She's just such a huge pick-me-up. They were all hitting the ball well today."

Megan Green homered to left-center field to drive in two of the Lady Jays' five runs in the fifth.

Avrey Reynolds finished a home run shy of the cycle, including an RBI triple past a diving center fielder in the second and a line drive off the fence in left for an RBI double in the fourth.

"She was driving the heck out of the ball in both gaps," Miller said.

Reynolds went all five innings in the circle, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits with a strikeout and two walks.

Reynolds and Green combined for a three-hitter in a 9-0 win against Oakville in the semifinals Saturday.

Reynolds went 5 innings, allowing a hit while Green struck out three and walked two in 1 innings.

Six players finished with two hits in the title game: Morgan, Green, Reece DeSimone, Maddy Lux, Abi Karr and Brooke Bates.

Green, Reynolds and Lux finished with two RBI each.

Making the plays in the field was second baseman DeSimone, who helped turn a swift 4-6-3 double play in the third, made a diving grab of a line drive in the fourth and dove to her left to field a ground ball for an out in the fifth.

Those plays assisted the Lady Jays in limiting the Broncos to two combined runs in those three innings.

"Any time we can put up a crooked number and hold them to a single digit, that's huge," Miller said.

Jefferson City (7-3) has a busy week ahead, playing Tuesday at Hickman, hosting Blair Oaks on Wednesday and Holt on Friday.

"Hopefully we saved some (hits) for this week," Miller said.
