Lady Jays take 2nd at Kewpie Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Jefferson City outscored its opponents 15-3 on its way to the championship game of the Kewpie Classic, then fell 10-0 in five innings against Lee's Summit West on Saturday.

The Lady Jays defeated Hickman 6-1 in the first round and beat Rock Bridge 9-2 in the semifinals.

Alex Gilliland homered and tripled against Hickman. Hannah Clardy had two hits and two RBI, while Megan Green finished with a pair of hits.

Mychael Jett got the win in the circle, allowing one unearned run on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Gilliland and Green both homered in the semifinal game. Gilliland added a double and two RBI. Green drove in two runs. Clardy also had two hits.

Jett pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Kara Daly gave up a hit in a scoreless seventh.

Jett pitched 1 innings against Lee's Summit West, allowing six earned runs. Daly tossed 2 innings, allowing three earned runs.

The Lady Jays (9-9) will host Sedalia Smith-Cotton on Monday. The JV game will start at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow. Senior Night festivities will take place between games.
